Ruth Henderson

Being in the outdoors is essential to my well-being, and kayaking with a mix of bush walking and camping is a perfect combo. Ian, my husband reckons I’m obsessed by kayaking – I read about it, I write about it, I photograph it, I go to forums and festivals on it, I’m always planning weekend or week-long trips away, I have five different kayaks…

I became a Yakity Yak Kayak Club leader over 15 years ago to ensure I got to go to places I wished to explore with like-minded people. I have a no cancellation policy. Sometimes this means swapping boats for boots. Somehow, regardless of the weather, we always have fun and an adventure.

KASK's aims are to:

1. Promote and encourage the sport of sea kayaking
2. Promote safety standards
3. Develop techniques and equipment
4. Deal with issues of coastal access and protection
5. Organise sea kayak forums around the country
6. Publish the Sea Canoeist Newsletter and the KASK Handbook
